Pixels and Pigtails was founded by Noelle Franco, a 30 year veteran of show business. She spent many of her 30 years self-promoting where she learned little bits of graphic design, publishing of advertising materials and some web design. It was in 2002 that she got thrown into web design when she was 'volunteered' to manage the website for The Cheer Nation (browse the old site in our gallery). Her boyfriend was one of the owners of this Las Vegas based all-star cheer company and decided she was the perfect person to do the company website, much to her surprise. Though Cheernation has since closed its doors Noelle has been busy building more and more websites.

P&P Specializes in creating websites with functionality AND visual appeal. Not something that usually go together when dealing with most web design companies. Frustrated by tales of small businesses who were getting high quotes and low quality websites, she decided to jump into the fray and make real websites for real businesses. We are geared toward the small business. We offer services that are affordable and high quality and very friendly. Combining Noelle's experiences with her vivacious personality makes for a great designer who really understands the smaller and more personal business approach while still presenting it in a professional manner.

What? No Flash?
Yes and no. After researching and playing around on the net, I have come to the personal conclusion that a fully flash site is not always the best option for smaller businesses. There are still a wide variety of users and computers out there and to have a sucessful site it should work. I prefer to use a combination of flash elements if absolutely needed and more standard html pages. Customers can choose what works best for them, a flash navigation system or a custom designed set of roll-over graphics. I also prefer modular aspects to a website so that it can be freshened up once in a while. With The Cheer Nation site, each new season gets a whole new look. It keeps users interested.

Why did you decide to do this?
I have had over 30 years of experience in all of these things as a result of being a self employed entertainer. My parents and I have been in show business for almost 32 years and in that time it fell to us to promote and advertise ourselves and our various shows and entertainment projects. As part of an entertainment based corporation I truly believe I have an advantage in understanding what people really like to see from a creative side of things. I am focused on businesses with a little whimsy and character to them. If your business is quirky and has personality...then I am your kind of web designer!

Why do your site have 'bells and whistles? Most people hate them.
Most of my more...technically minded friends do not like graphics, interactive menus, rollovers and fancy effects. In a purely functional world an extreme, minimalist approach is taken to websites. However, for small businesses and performers the personality is what sells! I strongly believe that a good dose of graphical impact is needed to convey the personality and uniqueness of the person or company behind the site. My goal is always to have the sites I create have some visual and creative appeal while working seamlessly.
